Highlights of the week.
Before we get into it, take a look back on the year that was. These were the top 15 trending events on social media this year, from Prince Harry’s tell-all to the Barbenheimer madness. See the 2023 Rewind here.
“Dead Billionaire.”
Their words, not mine. It’s why I put it in quotations. Save your hate mail, please.
Here’s the story. Liquid Death launched their own Arnold Palmer style drink (Lemonade & Iced Tea mixed together for those who don’t know). It’s delicious. They dubbed it the Armless Palmer.
Alright, cheeky.
Did the Arnold Palmer estate like this? Hell no. They threatened legal action. So Liquid Death changed the name of their drink to, you guessed it: Dead Billionaire.
Shots fired. The golf community is not happy.
Speaking of controversy.
Pepsi released a new spot featuring the Big Diesel himself, Shaq. The ad plays to a reworked version of Skee-Lo’s "I wish I was a little bit taller”, with the word taller swapped with smaller. Have a listen.
Very nice. But what if I told you that the spot below was made by ESPN back around 2014?
It kind of hits the same notes, no? The Shaq spot is definitely better but…still. I wish it was a little bit more original.
Let’s get Sphere-ical.
I made a TikTok. I dunno why. But it got like, 70 likes, and I thought that was pretty cool. It highlighted the top ads displayed on the Las Vegas Sphere in November 2023.

So yeah, I’m a TikTok’r now. I won’t be mad if you think less of me.
Subtle sometimes suffices.
My favourite “ad” of the week is all about great product marketing. How awesome is this?
I freakin’ love this. Makes me want to buy a Carhartt immediately. Just tell me it wasn’t lining underwear and I fully approve.
From the Ad Spot community.
RM shared this spot from The Miller Group. It’s all about second chances.
Alrighty, that’s a wrap. If you spot an ad you love and want a little shoutout in the newsletter, just respond to this email or connect with me on X and shoot me a DM. I’d love to feature more of this community.
