In the lead up to the Super BOwl, FanDuel is dropping spots announcing their Kick of Destiny 2, giving Rob Gronkowski a second chance at making a field goal. This spot brings in John Cena, suggesting he was going to be in a new ad, but Gronk overruled.
“Right after he missed last year’s kick, Rob had a fresh fire to him and was adamant about getting a shot at redemption,” FanDuel EVP, marketing Andrew Sneyd told Muse last week. “We’re always striving to come up with new and engaging ways for our customers to interface with our products, and we love this year’s twist that puts customers in charge as they make the call on if Rob will make it or miss.“
That fan involvement refers to a new addition to the campaign this year: FanDuel users can place a free pick on whether Gronk will make or miss, and win a share of a $10mm prize if they’re right. Here’s the spot.
